This styled Arizona lakeside elopement is filled with so many sweet moments – the best part? You get to hear alllllllll about Jessie and Josh’s story, right from them. Let’s dive in:
How They Met:
“We met through Josh’s sister/Jessie’s best friend! Jessie had just moved to Phoenix from Chicago and didn’t know a single soul outside of family members until she started her new job. Jessie had met Josh’s sister there and they became fast friends! Josh had always commented on his sisters social media posts about how he found Jessie attractive and was drawn to her immediately. After two months, Josh’s sister had invited Jessie to a bar after work, Jessie was resisting because she had work the next morning but was dragged out anyways. This “after work girls night” turned into a set up for Josh and Jessie to meet. When Jessie arrived, Josh asked to buy her a drink and she declined (she was driving that night #ResponsibleAdult). Because she declined a drink, he “bought” her chips & salsa – the way to her heart (however the chips and salsa were actually free). Everyone around them were dancing, but they were so zoned in on each other talking. Talking about life and Jesus and asking each other questions- going from complete strangers to immediate best friends. Days later, Josh asked Jessie on their first date to get coffee. The day after that date, they went to church together and the rest is history.”
The Proposal
Jessie said: “Josh asked me on a date to celebrate their One Year Anniversary (11.27) and told her not to worry about a thing because he had it covered. He told her she had 15 minutes after work to get ready and then they had to boogie (she’s still amazed at her ability to have gotten ready that fast). When he picked her up, he looked like a STUD in his nice button up and black jeans. She started asking questions about the night as they drove, being her nosey self, and he wouldn’t budge. As they were driving, she noticed they were driving through a neighborhood – then turned into an old church parking lot. Josh honked at a blue jeep with a blonde in it and Jess asked “Who’s that?”, he laughed and responded, “That’s a friend of mine. For our anniversary, I arranged a photoshoot”. Normally people would catch onto that, but Jessie had been wanting nice pictures of them for a while so she didn’t think much of it. As they were taking pictures the photographer said she need to change lens’. While she was “changing lens'”, Josh said he had written Jessie a letter and proceeded to read it to her. He then got down on one knee and asked to be with her forever. Jessie’s response: “REALLY?”. After Josh confirmed that YES, really… he wanted to marry her, they proceeded to take pictures. Josh then surprised Jessie with a surprise engagement party with everyone they loved.”
On Their ‘Must-Do’ List:
“Have BABIESS!!! But also backpack through Europe, and actually just traveling together, we want to buy a house, josh promised Jessie a pet mini pig. There’s so many little things, but the biggest is starting a family and travel the world together. We love to binge watch shows And eat popcorn, take mini trips to Sedona and traveling as a whole, workout together, hike, go to church together, try new restaurants, have Segway dates and play games.”
The two of them have had so many memorable moments together. Some of their favorites have been: “When josh met my parents for the first time. We sat and had lunch and just laughed and had a good time. My dad asked josh what his “faith story” was and josh broke down as he talked about all Jesus had done in his life. It was the first time I saw him so vulnerable and saw how overwhelmed he was by Jesus. It was so natural with my family and he felt so comfortable.”
What’s more? Theses guys happen to be some of my closest friends – I’m telling you, they’re the real deal.
Cheers!
Allison
