MAN was this Pinetop wedding gorgeous. We got to soak up the beautiful weather and pine smells ALL throughout the day! BUT – you need to hear Erik and Michelle’s story: it all started on MYSPACE, with Michelle sending a cute boy (Erik!) a friend request. Since he was in a relationship at the time, they stated out being friends, chatting on the phone for a year before finally deciding to meet in person in March of 2010. Soon after, they officially began dating on April 18th, 2010!
The Proposal
Erik then proposed to Michelle a few years back by making a sign with Christmas lights, showing up with it at her Mom’s on Christmas Day in 2014. She said: “I thought he had gotten me a telescope for Christmas being the astronomy nerd I am, but it ended up being way better. I was at my Mom’s house and he called me to come outside and to bring my family. Totally clueless, we all went outside and there he was getting down on one knee and a sign behind him that was lit up that said “Will you marry me?” He fumbled the ring and opened the box upside down. Haha he was so nervous. Of course I said yes! His family came around the corner and we celebrated with champagne.”
Their Vision
They’ve since shared so many fun trips up to Pinetop with their adorable son, resulting in them deciding to get married up there! They said that they love heading up to their cabin to hangout, and planning their wedding up there gave them an excuse to check out one of their (now) favorite breweries, Pinetop Brewing Co. With the forest, camping and spending time outdoors being their main wedding day vision, The Gathering Place served as the perfect mixture for their wedding venue!
Favorite Part of Their Day
Their wedding day had the MOST gorgeous weather, filled with an incredibly warm and beautiful golden-hour sunset. That pretty light peeping through the pine trees was SO rad (scroll down to check out those images!). Do you want to know Michelle and Erik’s favorite part of their wedding day? It was their last dance – they said the loved that after the craziness of their day, they were able to wind down by dancing to “Stolen” by Dashboard Confessional.
They’re in the midst of planning their epic honeymoon trip (likely to Hawaii!), but they are for now enjoying their first few weeks of being husband and wife.
Cheers!
Allison
