Kayla and Marc got married on a gorgeous, warm, sunny day in Zionsville, Indiana on June 2nd at a beautiful family-friend’s property in the country. Their big day was filled with incredible floral bouquets, blush accent pieces, a warm breeze and their closest friends and family. Read below for a glimpse into their sweet, sweet love story:
When Marc proposed, he caught Kayla 100% by surprise. Marc knows that she typically hates surprises, which makes their story even better that she wasn’t expecting his proposal plan! Kayla said…“We went out to a really fancy dinner the night before, so I thought he was going to propose then, but he didn’t. The next day he picked me up from class and said that he already got lunch so we could just go straight home. When we got to our apartment, I opened the door and saw that he had made a path with candles leading back to our bedroom. In between the candles he had pictures of us and also wrote on paper the things that he loved about me. When I opened the bedroom door he had spelled out, “will you marry me” with post-it notes. I turned around and he was on one knee. I have no clue what he said to me because I was so surprised! When he asked me to marry him I said, “well duh!”
Their wedding planning process was just as sweet – Kayla said that she went to only one place before finding her dress! She said that she wasn’t looking for one that was big or colored; she instead was looking for a gown that was ivory and form fitting. The stylist picked out a dress that was both blush AND full, and put it in Kayla’s room for her to try on. Kayla said that when she put it on, she knew immediately that it was then one! When she walked out of the dressing room, Kayla told me that the first person she saw was her maid of honor. Her mouth dropped and she starting crying! When Kayla looked into the mirror, she had an emotional wave come over her and knew immediately that it was the one. When it came to picking their wedding venue, it was an easy decision for them! They knew they wanted an outdoor wedding – Kayla grew up with a family that had a gorgeous, outdoor property in the country. Marc and Kayla asked if they would host their wedding at their home, and they said yes! There were several handmade elements to their wedding day – Kayla said that this was one of the most memorable parts for her! They made all of the cake stands, signs, bird cages, drink stand, table pieces and her Dad even custom-built their wedding ceremony arch. Though they put in several hours creating pieces for their big day, they loved having such a personal touch in so many aspects of their decor and plans.
Marc LOVED the xbox cake Kayla surprised him with at their reception! He had no clue Kayla had planned that for him. He loved that she thought to do something like that for him amidst all the stresses that come with planning your own wedding. Get this – Kayla wrote their entire ceremony! She said that they really wanted it to be completely about them and she loved being able to make it so personal. Kayla’s Mom passed away four years ago – they reserved a seat at their wedding for her mother. Their florist used her Mom’s veil to wrap the flower stems of Kayla’s bouquet, and even attached her Mom’s sequin crown to the flowers as well. It was such a sweet touch to honor her in such a beautiful way.
Being a part of their day was such a joy. They are such a genuinely happy couple – their wedding day is one I’ll always hold near and dear!
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Kelly!
Cheers,
Allison
