This gorgeous Gather Estate wedding day was absolutely incredible – it may have been rainy all day long, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! Holly and Joe partied along with their closest friends and family the whole day long – truly was SUCH an amazing celebration. Buckle in and get ready for Holly and Joe’s story!
Joe proposed to Holly in the middle of the summer while they were on trip together to the Omaha Zoo! She said: “I had no idea it was coming! I was so sick and I had suggested that we maybe cancel the trip, but Joe insisted and I still didn’t suspect anything. It was the ultimate surprise and then we had the best day at the Omaha Zoo. It was just a beautiful day all around.” After the proposal, they began to dive into wedding planning together. Their vision was for a “fun day with our friends and family to celebrate with us all dressed up, fancy cheese, canned beer, and endless tacos!”
They said that they loved…”Getting to personalize and pick out the details we wanted, which means we did a lot of it ourselves along with our family and friends. From designing and making bouquets, to selecting our favorite snacks for the charcuterie spread. Making our favorite flavor of cake (funfetti), and bringing our favorite beer from Kansas City. The taqueria Joe’s family had been going to since the 80’s, made the trip from Mexico to cook for everyone (shoutout Los Campas from San Luis)!”
Holly and Joe said that this was the most memorable part of their day: “It rained! We were calling all the rental companies to find a tent big enough and everyone was booked up. Our uncle Marc came and saved the day with a huge tent to fit some tables outside. We moved the ceremony inside and he built a modern steel grid arch backdrop the night before and it was just perfect. Our party all came together to make the switch happen and it all came out better than we originally planned. By the time the wedding started, the rain cleared up and we were able to dance outside under the night sky.”
After their blast of a wedding day, they road-tripped back to their home in Kansas City with a pitstop in Denver to check out an aquarium and have some dinner together! These babes were truly the most laid back and were so intentional with spending time with their loved ones on their wedding day. It was the BEST!
Cheers!
