Luke and Anna met a few summers back on a trip in Florida, put on by a Christian campus ministry they both were part of at their school. They were sent down to Orlando for ten weeks to work full time at Universal Studios and also be trained in how to study their bibles, lead bible studies, and walk closely with Jesus. Anna told me that trip was so enriching, but that she never imagined the best part would be meeting her future husband! Since their Florida trip, they became close friends and have continued to grow closer to each other, their friends, family, and Christ through it. The day that Luke proposed to Anna, they went to an Italian restaurant for dinner that also had an art gallery. Luke had talked with the director a month prior, and had planned to have candles, rose petals and a wooden cross that he had burned the words ‘enduring’ and ‘radiance’ into, two of their favorite words. Luke said that planning the surprise proposal for Anna was so satisfying, and he loved seeing her reaction to all the friends and family at their surprise engagement party too! Anna said that she loved seeing all of the details Luke put into the evening; from getting their family and best friends in on the surprise, making a wooden cross and wood burning their favorite words into it, and even creating such a unique setting (that she had no idea about) was so sweet. She said that she has never felt more loved or pursued.
When it came time to plan their wedding, the most memorable part for them was visiting the venue, Mustard Seed Gardens, and falling in love with where they would be married. They loved visualizing what the ceremony would look like too! Luke and Anna wanted their wedding to capture who they are but also point everyone to The Lord that brought them together. Anna wanted to keep their wedding simple, but beautiful, and inspire others to see God’s beauty through their ceremony and colors. They both love nature and all things outdoorsy, and wanted others to appreciate it too (Anna even was barefoot for their wedding ceremony)! Anna and Luke said that the moment they set foot at Mustard Seed Gardens, they fell in love with it. They didn’t even visit anywhere else because they knew it was perfect!
Luke loved that Anna walked down the aisle toward him right after a reading from the book of Revelation, which talks about the bride revealing herself to Christ. He also (of course) loved seeing Anna as his wife for the first time, and for the rest of the evening in a new light. Anna had been writing in a journal for Luke over the past year, and decided to gift it to him during their first look. Anna said that when she and Luke did the first look, she loved that they were able to share those sweet moments together. She also loved walking down the aisle with her Dad and seeing Luke’s face light up! Her Step-Mom, Judy, made a sign in remembrance of everyone who has passed away and wasn’t able to make the wedding. It had pictures of family & friends, and was so touching for them to feel as if they were there with them. A few years back, I actually met Anna at her Dad and Step-Mom’s wedding! It was so great being able to see her again on HER wedding day – it was like being re-united with a sweet friend.
These two cuties celebrated their marriage by heading to Kauai, Hawaii for a week! They told me that their days were filled with snorkeling, helicopter rides, hiking, eating at local restaurants, going on drives around the island, doing morning devotionals together, and hanging out on the beach!
I’m SO thrilled for Anna and Luke to be starting this new journey as husband and wife. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Justus!
Cheers
