When most people think of Oregon, they imagine a lush, green forest and a super damp climate. Guess what? Around 40% of Oregon is actually considered to be a desert! This incredible Oregon elopement was in the central part of the state, near Bend. If I didn’t know any different, I would have thought I was back in Arizona!
How They Met
These Portland babes, Kelsey and Sam, met back in 2010 at a youth conference – where Sam was actually her small group leader! They didn’t begin actually dating until about three years later, when they got reconnected via social media.
The Proposal
Sam later proposed to Kelsey, back in his hometown on a peninsula that overlooked the lake that he grew up on. Kelsey said: “We had/have so many memories on that lake, so it was super fitting. It was simple, intimate and real — nothing flashy about it. Very true to us and genuine. Afterwards, tons of friends surprised us by making the drive out to come spend the weekend celebrating with us.”
What They Love
Kelsey and Sam fill their time with motorcycle rides, working out together, reading and talking about what they’re learning, cooking and eating food, spending tie with their kids – and so much more. They said: “We literally love doing anything and everything as long as we are together — we hate being apart.”
Some of their most memorable moments together have been the birth of each of their daughters – being such an impactful part of their story. Kelsey said: “Also, packing up and moving 2000+ miles across the country from the midwest to Portland for the purpose of church planting was really huge for our relationship too.” They’re planning to one day go on a motorcycle trip down the coast of Cali, camping and making pit stops along the way.
It was so fun to take pictures of these two – it’s obvious that their love for one another runs deep. Don’t believe me? Just check out the images below!
Cheers!
