Madison and Joe recognized that having a big wedding was focusing too much on what other people wanted rather than themselves. They didn’t want it to be an ordinary event for their family and friends, with nothing out of the ordinary happening. In the end, Madison and Joe decided that an Italy Elopement in the Dolomites was the best idea. “After all”, they say, “what’s the most special day about? It’s about celebrating us! So we decided to do exactly that by having an intimate elopement without a huge guest list so that we can save on some costs and use those savings to have an amazing honeymoon afterward.” They went to the Dolomites, a range of mountains in the northeast of Italy and close to Austria, where they could hike and bike and explore the scenic beauties of the area. It was not only a celebration of love but an adventure of a lifetime!

Madison said: “I was a week out from moving to Tucson for a job. I didn’t have any friends or family in Tucson and one night, several cocktails in, I decided to set myself up on a dating app and set my location to Tucson just to see what was out there. Joe was the first person I matched with. What caught my eye right away (outside of his good looks obviously) was the fact that he was an ICU nurse and I noticed he had a coast guard lanyard on with scrubs in a bathroom selfie. So as soon as we matched, I sent him a message and asked if he worked at the VA hospital. He said yes. I told him I’m about to start a job there. He responded this could be a good thing or a bad thing… And it’s been the best thing.”
Joe said: “After cleaning through Bumble, very unsuccessfully, I decided to peep the hype about this hinge thing. I went deep with some matches but Maddie cakes was the eye-catcher. Beautiful, tall, with lots of outdoorsy pics, and an educated woman! Damn. So I honed in on her with all my focus. Made her talk to me on the phone for what was probably 40 hrs of all-nighters, and I was hooked. Deleted everything and awaited her arrival. It did not disappoint. She showed up a day before our planned first date, which ended up being a three-day long date. We went camping next and hit it off so hard that it felt absolutely meant to be. Been head over heels ever since!”
Madison said: “It’s too damn hard to please everyone. All of my family is in Phoenix and Joe’s family is in Utah. It was overwhelming to make sure we have an epic wedding to accommodate people who are traveling. And the price! Omg. What I visioned was going to cost double what this trip is and would only be a few hours long.”
Joe said: “I’ve been a people pleaser all my life. This is something that should be all about us, tradition can take a back seat this time.”
Madison said: “My favorite quality of Joe is how we can be looking each other in the eyes, having an important or serious conversation and he’ll let out a loud fart mid-sentence without skipping a beat.
Joe said: “Madison’s deformed left pointer finger “Gloria” that she’s ashamed of but is always pointed out front and center because it’s sensitive to touch.”
