It’s always been a dream of mine to shoot a Yosemite National Park Elopement. Aubrey and Lauren? They made that dream a reality.
How They Met:
“We were both (separately) into the punk music scene in Atlanta, and we ran into each other for the first time at a show when we were 16. We reconnected again at 19 through mutual friends. We built a friendship over the next year, until he finally made a move!”
How He Proposed:
“It was July 4th, and we spent the day hiking around the river with friends. Kind of on a whim, we decided to go up into the North Georgia mountains to see the fireworks in the little town of Ellijay. It was already dark, so we walked around the little downtown area searching for a good viewing spot until we finally found one just before the show started. While watching the fireworks, Aubrey kissed me and slipped something onto my left hand. My eyes shot open, totally surprised, and Aubrey was just grinning. I saw the ring, asked if he was serious, and he said yes. I then said, “Well, are you asking?!” and he said “Oh yeah! Will you marry me?” I, of course, said yes. We watched the rest of the fireworks and on the walk back to our car, realized that we had been watching the show from a small graveyard – in fact, we were in front of a heart-shaped headstone. ‘Til death do us part!”
These cuties go to Yosemite National Park together every year to adventure through the park and climb together. As we hiked a trail to get to this breathtaking viewpoint, it was obvious that they knew it well.
When we reached the end of the trail, we stopped. We soaked it in, looked at the grandeur of it and stood in complete awe. Even though Aubrey and Lauren had seen this view in years past, they were equally as still as we all enjoyed the beauty of the cliffs.
As the minutes passed, the sun slowly dipped behind the mountains and soaked us in the most gorgeous pink and orange light. We stayed at the cliff until the moon shone brightly, and then packed up our bags to begin the hike back to our cars (and reality) – lit solely by the moon, stars and our head lamps. It was an utter dream of an evening, without a doubt.
Cheers!
Allison

Obsessed with all of these, especially the one of them holding hands and the background is in focus 😍 soooo goood!!!!!!
This has to be one of the best proposal stories I’ve heard! I love that you share more about the newlywed’s history together. It makes it so much fun to view the beautiful photos of their Yosemite National Park Elopement. Also, the sunset was amazing! They made the right call when they chose a photographer who can time it perfectly like that. My favorite photos are of the two of them looking out over Yosemite Valley, soaking it all in as you described. Overall, a beautifully photographed Yosemite elopement!
That dress and love story are such a dream! This spot and the way that you’ve captured these two IS PERFECTION! It makes me want to go adventure out west today! <3
love the headlamp ones! That soft glow of the sunset in the background is amazing.
Holy Sh*t!! This lighting is EVERYTHING!!! So beautiful. What a dream shoot!
Yosemite Elopements are always one of my favorite things to look at! I loved reading about the proposal! So sweet.
