Holy wow, you’re about to have you socks blown off. This incredible intimate Sedona wedding was HANDS DOWN the most breathtaking wedding that I’ve been a part of to date. Yes, the views were amazing. But – it was more than the views that took my breath away – it was the WHY behind Ashley and Jacob deciding to forego tradition and get married THIS way; THEIR way. It was the way they looked at one another throughout the entire day and the way they truly soaked in each moment of their wedding. Get ready to read about Ashley and Jacob’s heart, vision and why behind their Sedona elopement:
Their Heart, Vision and Why
“The vision for our wedding day was our love and to focus on the celebration of love and to be stress free! When we told everyone we were going to elope it hurt a lot of people at home and unfortunately not everyone was happy with our decision, but we knew what we wanted in our big day. We didn’t want to get caught up in the big ordeals that planning a traditional wedding usually brings along with it. It wasn’t about the centerpieces or food, it’s not about having the biggest budget for all the bells and whistles or the size of the guest list. We didn’t want to get lost in the whole mess of having to invite so and so because so and so wants them there or what not. We didn’t want to spend the whole day stressing about all the fine details/money involved with a traditional wedding nor did we want to spend the whole reception saying hello to hundreds of guests and making sure everything ran smoothly. We wanted to be able to enjoy each other and be 100% present in the moment. We wanted an organically easy and beautiful day, to inspire the few people that were there with us with our love and commitment to each other. Everything else just kind of fell into place. The visuals we went with for our wedding day played off of the natural beauty of our surroundings- we didn’t really have any decor, besides some flowers, because the beauty of mother nature was everything we could have ever wanted and then some! We live in Missouri and planned our wedding in Arizona at a home we rented for the week and weren’t able to see the house until 5 days prior to the wedding. We had pictures of the house but actually walking around the property, just the two of us, and seeing our vision come to life was pure magic. Everything just kind of fell into place perfectly. Besides that we knew we wanted to have tacos for dinner (we did get married on National Taco day) and tequila flowing! There was zero stress day of our wedding. The day was absolutely perfect.”
Cliffside Private Vows + More
“For some reason we were both so nervous all morning leading up to (our first look) moment. Even though we’ve been together for years and years things that we do every day had us trembling with nerves but as soon as I walked up behind Jacob, tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around and I saw his face like magic all the nerves just disappeared. Jacob is always the most handsome man in the world to me but in that moment he literally took my breath away and at the same time filled me up with more joy and happiness than I thought possible. Besides the amazingly epic hike up Cathedral Mountain in our wedding gear, we loved being able to share our private vows together cliffside. Hearing the promises we made to each other while standing alone, on a cliff, looking down at all the beauty that Sedona and her Red Rocks have to offer was like something from a fairytale. It was such a pure, beautiful, magical moment in time that we’ll forever cherish and be able to look back on remembering exactly how we felt and the love we have for each other.”
If I’m honest with you, my heart was SO full after their wedding day. It was incredible to see how much choosing to get married this way meant to them; the TRUE way they wanted to celebrate and begin their marriage. It’s moments like those that absolutely make me fall even more in love with my job – like who the heck gets the honor of being a part of such a rad day as theirs?! Me – I do. And man, was it amazing.
Cheers!
Allison
